forklog.media WLFI Token Hits New Low Amid Criticism of Loan Model

The token of the Trump-associated DeFi platform World Liberty Financial (WLFI) has reached new local lows amid increasing criticism of the project's lending model. Source: CoinMarketCap. On April 11, the token's price plummeted to $0.077, nearly 83% below the $0.46 mark reached in September 2025. Price Pressure The token's decline followed the disclosure of borrowing operations, through which the project's treasury raised about $75 million in stablecoins (including its own — USD1). The collateral consisted of 5 billion WLFI, controlled by the team. Following the news, the asset's price dropped by more than 10%, and its market capitalization shrank by hundreds of millions of dollars. Community Concerns Criticism is focused on the structure of the deal. Commentators note that the project used billions of tokens as collateral, allowing it to raise liquidity without additional external capital. This model is termed "circular financing," as it essentially involves loans backed by an asset controlled by the borrower. The company utilized the lending DeFi protocol Dolomite, co-founded by Corey Kaplan, who also serves as an advisor to World Liberty Financial. Dolomite is not among the leaders in the decentralized lending segment, ranking 19th in total value locked at $147.6 million. In comparison, the top two, Aave and Morpho, have $25.3 billion and $7.5 billion, respectively (DeFiLlama). Users have pointed out the risks of potential conflicts of interest and the concentration of WLFI liquidity in a relatively small protocol. This implies a critically high dependency of the lender on a single borrower. Commentators highlighted the token's shallow market depth, with a total capitalization of $2.5 billion. The need to liquidate even 5% of the total volume could catastrophically crash the asset's price, one critic emphasized. Project's Response World Liberty Financial dismissed the concerns, stating that the collateral position is not at risk of liquidation and will be increased if necessary. We are one of the largest suppliers and borrowers on WLFI Markets.Yes, we supplied WLFI as collateral and borrowed stablecoins. No, we are nowhere near liquidation — and frankly, even if markets moved dramatically against us, we'd simply supply more collateral. That's not a…— WLFI (@worldlibertyfi) April 9, 2026 The team also stated that it acts as an "anchor borrower," creating "exceptional" returns for other protocol participants. Additionally, the company announced that in the coming weeks, WLFI investors will be able to vote on a proposal to change the token unlock schedule. It is expected that early investors will gain access to their assets sooner than planned. Back in February, the project announced plans to launch the World Swap platform for currency exchange and money transfers.

Over the past 18 months, the sovereign fund manager Druk Holding and Investments has gradually liquidated about 71% of the assets. At the time of writing, the government-controlled wallet holds ~3774 BTC valued at $274.8 million. Bhutan's bitcoin reserve was built through state-supported bitcoin mining using surplus hydroelectric power. However, the last funds received into the national crypto fund from the Foundry USA pool operator's address were recorded on November 13, 2024. The transfer amounted to ~$0.9 BTC (~$75,730 at the time of the transaction). Due to the prolonged pause in replenishing the national reserve, journalist Colin Wu speculated that the state had ceased cryptocurrency mining operations. In 2025, the economics of bitcoin mining deteriorated sharply. Network difficulty, debt burden, and stagnant cryptocurrency prices led to the capitulation of approximately 20% of miners, according to CoinShares. forklog.media Journalists Identify Bitcoin’s Creator

This week, "Deconstruction" focuses on the search for the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto, the evolving crisis in the Persian Gulf, innovations from Anthropic, and the capitulation of miners. Satoshi Nakamoto Unveiled Pulitzer Prize winner John Carreyrou from the New York Times suggested that British cryptographer Adam Back might be the creator of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto. The journalist analyzed thousands of cypherpunk posts and found similarities in writing style that pointed to the Blockstream founder. Carreyrou also examined hundreds of court records and emails. The investigation took 18 months. The trigger was the 2024 documentary Money Electric: The Bitcoin Mystery. In one scene, Back was sitting on a bench in Riga and tensed up when the director mentioned him as a possible creator of the first cryptocurrency. Carreyrou, claiming to be able to detect lies, found the cryptographer's behavior suspicious. Truce in Iran Iran rejected the idea of a temporary truce and called for a complete cessation of hostilities. The proposal, transmitted by Tehran through Pakistan, consisted of 10 points, including guarantees of non-aggression in the future, compensation for damages, lifting of international sanctions, and the creation of a security protocol for shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Trump called the initiative "an important but insufficient step." On April 7, he wrote on Truth Social that "an entire civilization will perish tonight." The United States continued to deploy additional forces to the Middle East, and strategic bombers flew from the US to the region just hours before the ultimatum expired. Considering Trump's threats of "an entire civilization perishing," some commentators speculated about a nuclear strike. However, the US president stated that he agreed to a two-week truce with Iran on the condition of opening Hormuz. According to him, negotiations mediated by Pakistan yielded positive results. "We received a 10-point proposal from Iran and believe it could be an acceptable basis for negotiations," Trump wrote. Anthropic's Breakthrough The company Anthropic developed a new powerful model, Claude Mythos, but refrained from releasing it publicly due to high security risks. Instead of a public release, the firm launched Project Glasswing — an initiative involving AWS, Apple, Broadcom, Cisco, CrowdStrike, Google, JPMorgan Chase, Linux Foundation, Microsoft, Nvidia, and Palo Alto Networks to test the tool in secure conditions. The startup allocated up to $100 million in credits for using Mythos and $4 million in direct donations to open-source security organizations. Within weeks of testing, Mythos discovered thousands of zero-day vulnerabilities in major operating systems and web browsers. Among the most notable examples: A 27-year-old vulnerability in OpenBSD (considered one of the most secure OSs), allowing remote crashing of any server based on this system; A 16-year-old vulnerability in FFmpeg — a video technology used by Netflix and browsers. It went undetected by five million automated tests; A chain of vulnerabilities in the Linux kernel, giving an attacker full control over the device. During experiments, Mythos demonstrated not only outstanding technical capabilities but also unexpected behavior, as noted in its system map. In one test, the model was placed in a secure sandbox with the goal of escaping. It quickly found a vulnerability, executed a long chain of actions, and exited the environment. Mythos did not stop there. The neural network found another bug and gained broad internet access. Initially, it was assumed it would only access a few resources to communicate with the developer. Ultimately, the model informed him of its "escape" while he was eating a sandwich in the park and published the details of the breach publicly.
