US Regulator Approves 24/7 Crypto Derivatives Trading
CFTC has given the green light to 24/7 trading in the crypto derivatives market, while also warning of risks to other segments of derivative financial instruments. .@CFTC Staff Issues Advisory on 24/7 Trading, Clearing, and Settlement: https://t.co/Nt3v5zJzdj— CFTC (@CFTC) May 29, 2026 On May 29, the commission issued a letter to market participants. The agency noted that the shift to 24/7 trading and clearing "may not currently be suitable for all asset classes" due to differences in underlying markets. The CFTC acknowledged that blockchain infrastructure, alternative forms of collateral — including crypto assets and stablecoins — and mobile access have made the 24/7 model viable for digital assets. Platforms already offer continuous access to both retail and institutional clients. Traditional markets, including agricultural derivatives, are less prepared for such a regime. The reasons include the specifics of the client base, regional structure, and hedging features. The main risk is abuse during periods of reduced oversight. The transition of individual products to a round-the-clock mode could impact liquidity, increase volatility, and widen spreads, creating more opportunities for manipulation. The regulator has demanded that platforms enhance compliance and notify the commission in advance of plans to launch a 24/7 model. The letter was released on the same day the CFTC approved crypto companies to launch perpetual futures on a 24/7 basis. Coinbase stated that it is already restructuring traditional financial services on crypto infrastructure. According to the company, its platform operates stocks, futures, and prediction markets 24/7, and the regulator's decision will allow it to add global options and perpetual contracts through a regulated division. Amazon Announces Breakthrough in Data Center Architecture
Amazon has implemented a new data center network architecture that accelerates data transmission and reduces energy consumption, according to Wired. The solution is based on a "quasi-random" topology. AWS claims to have been working on it since 2023, with implementation in infrastructure starting at the end of 2025. For the project, the company developed its own optical device, ShuffleBox, which automatically rearranges cable connections between routers. Matt Rayner, Vice President of AWS Network Engineering, stated that the team managed to "flatten the network" and eliminate bottlenecks typical of traditional architectures. According to him, Amazon was the first to scale this approach to the level of real infrastructure. In April, the company released a research paper titled RNG: Flat Datacenter Networks at Scale. RNG stands for resilient network graphs. According to Amazon, compared to classic networks, the RNG architecture: requires 69% fewer routers and switches; increases throughput by 33%; reduces energy consumption by 40%; cuts operational costs by 27%. The first launch took place in Dublin in 2024. The architecture was then deployed in Germany and Spain. Currently, most new AWS data centers are being built using RNG. Since the mid-1980s, data centers have predominantly used the fat-tree topology—a multi-level hierarchy of switches. It is reliable but rigid and requires complex cabling infrastructure. Amazon's network connects about 20 million kilometers of fiber optic cable. The starting point for the project was the Jellyfish concept, proposed in 2012 by researchers at the University of Illinois. It suggested a random graph topology as an alternative to fat-tree but created issues with routing and cable layout. According to one of the authors, Giacomo Bernardi, the team initially tested a more regular scheme inspired by Penrose tiling. Simulations showed weak resilience and modest efficiency gains. Ultimately, engineers moved to a quasi-random model. AWS emphasized that the architecture was not specifically created for generative AI. The training patterns of models are too centralized for a random graph. The focus is on optimizing the basic network infrastructure. Earlier, the largest regional electricity transmission operator in the US, PJM Interconnection, reported that the data center boom led to additional costs amounting to $23.1 billion in its area of responsibility alone.

Who Crashed Bitcoin? Market Trap and the Rise of AI
This week, "Deconstruction" focuses on the paradox of Bitcoin's decline, AI attacks on crypto developers, the Ethereum update crisis, and a recipe for saving DAOs. Bitcoin Emerges from Crisis The price of Bitcoin fell below $73,000 amid rising oil prices and the U.S. Treasury's debt sales. However, analysis of data over 10 years showed no direct correlation between Bitcoin and oil prices. With the launch of spot ETFs, Bitcoin has changed its status and become structurally independent. The digital currency no longer has to automatically fall in line with traditional markets, so current fluctuations are merely temporary technical noise, not a global trend. Ethereum Updates The upcoming Ethereum update (Higota) proposes to include a secure pool for private transfers and a new data structure — Verkle trees. This will reduce blockchain state storage load by 90% and allow network nodes to run on regular smartphones. A mechanism to combat censorship is also planned. The main issue, however, is that due to the postponement of hard forks and the mass exodus of technical specialists from the Ethereum Foundation, the update schedule is in serious doubt. New Hacker Tactics AI-based attacks are now targeting not the user, but the developer and the code supply chain. Hackers upload malicious packages that deceive AI programming assistants (like Claude) and trick the neural network into collecting keys and passwords under the guise of "security scanning." As a result, a crypto wallet or DeFi application can be compromised even at the program writing stage, before its official market release. DAO Rescue Recipe Fundamental Web3 approaches are in systemic crisis: DAOs lack self-organization, the transition to "teal" is too psychologically costly, and Open Source survives only on donations. However, these models can work effectively together, covering each other's weaknesses. In such a structure, DAOs create real cash flows by funding open-source developers, while teal principles ensure that decisions are made by the most competent participants, not just the largest token holders. FBI Uncovers Scam Network, Seizes $8 Billion in Bitcoin
FBI has announced the seizure of over 127,000 BTC, valued at approximately $8 billion, as part of the international Operation Blackout targeting scam centers and their networks. This was reported by Fox News. Raids took place in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, resulting in nearly 300 arrests. Around 2,000 individuals were freed from centers where they were held and forced to participate in fraudulent schemes. An additional $30 million was confiscated from entities linked to scam operations in Myanmar. Major Case Traced to Cambodia The bulk of the seized funds is associated with Chen Zhi, chairman of Cambodia's Prince Holding Group. This involves more than 127,000 BTC. Back in October 2025, the US Department of Justice filed its largest-ever forfeiture lawsuit—approximately 127,271 BTC—and charged Chen Zhi, also known as Vincent. Investigators allege the businessman organized a network of scam centers in the country. People were held against their will and forced into crypto investment schemes. Authorities estimate the damage in billions of dollars worldwide. At the time of the charges, Chen Zhi remained at large. Pig Butchering Scheme According to the Department of Justice, the centers operated on a pig butchering model—building long-term trust through messengers and social media before luring victims into "profitable" crypto projects. Once funds were transferred, the platform vanished, and the money was withdrawn. US authorities describe these schemes as one of the most destructive forms of crypto fraud. According to the FBI, reported losses grew from $5.8 billion in 2024 to over $7.2 billion in 2025. The key infrastructure, according to investigators, was located in industrial scam centers in Cambodia, as well as in border areas of Myanmar and Thailand. After the lawsuit was filed in 2025, AP, citing case materials, reported that authorities valued 127,271 BTC at more than $14 billion at the time. If the court approves the forfeiture, part of the funds will be directed to compensate victims. Operation Blackout has become one of the largest international operations against crypto fraud and human trafficking. The investigation is ongoing. In 2025, the US Treasury imposed sanctions on nine entities in Myanmar and ten in Cambodia for their involvement in organizing fraudulent schemes using cryptocurrencies.

JPMorgan CEO Criticizes CLARITY Act Over Stablecoin Yields
JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon criticized the U.S. cryptocurrency market structure bill (CLARITY Act) in an interview with Fox Business, amid a debate over rewards for stablecoins. The top executive stated that the document effectively allows issuers to pay interest on deposits without comparable customer protection. According to him, banks "will not accept it in this form." "I'm not worried about 'stablecoins,' but if it happens, I will have nothing to do with it, and eventually, it will all blow up," Dimon said. The clash between banks and crypto companies has intensified as the CLARITY Act progresses in Congress. Lawmakers are debating requirements for issuers, reserves, consumer protection, and the right to offer yield products similar to bank accounts. The main point of contention is the reward programs for "stablecoins." Coinbase and its CEO Brian Armstrong believe banks are pushing for restrictions to protect the deposit model. The banking sector insists that companies offering bank-like services should be subject to similar oversight. Disagreements have slowed work on the document, despite bipartisan support for digital asset regulation. For the law to take effect, it must be approved by both houses of Congress and signed by President Donald Trump. In May, the Senate Banking Committee advanced its version of the initiative. The Agriculture Committee did so earlier. Lawmakers are now reconciling texts before a full Senate vote. Earlier, TD Cowen analysts downgraded their forecast for the adoption of the CLARITY Act, considering its approval unlikely this year.
